During our impromptu 48-hour Parisian getaway we stayed at the Hilton Paris Opera hotel and paid €792 for two nights. The hotel is conveniently located near the Saint Lazare subway station, restaurants, shopping, and the Palais Garnier Opera House! Although it is close to the opera house, it was a far walk to get to some of the city's biggest sites! It was close to an hour's walk (3.5km/2.1 miles) from the hotel to the Eiffel Tower! So keep the distance in mind if it is your first time in the city, and you want to see the most popular attraction!
Getting To Hilton Paris Opera Hotel:
Finding the best hotel in Paris is difficult, but finding the Hilton Paris Opera Hotel is easy; just about 30 km from the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and there are multiple ways to get there. The hotel does not offer any airport shuttle service, but it is accessible via train, bus, and taxi/ride-share.
This page from the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) goes into great detail about how to take different transit options from the airport to the city center! It is an amazing resource to have if you are trying to figure out which transportation is best for you and your travel companions!
We opted to take an Uber from the airport directly to the hotel. For us, this is the easiest option since we are comfortable with it. With this option, we did not have to worry about waiting in line for a taxi and were able to find a ride immediately. We also did not have to worry about a potential language barrier since everything is done via the app. The ride cost us about €50. There is a designated ride-share pickup spot in the arrivals terminal and our driver was able to find us quickly. This was about the same price as a taxi would have been, as they typically cost about €53-€58 depending on which side of the river you are going to.
Check-in:
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by the doorman. The bellhop inside then took our luggage and gave us a slip with a number to call when we were ready for it to be delivered. The lobby of the hotel is very ornate with beautiful stonework and chandeliers. We got to our hotel around 10:30 AM which is well before the 4:00 PM check-in. Luckily, we were able to get a room early, for a price. The cost is €100 early check-in fee. However, we felt it was worth it at the time as we were extremely tired from our long plane ride. The man at the check-in counter was extremely friendly and we had no communication problems! The entire staff in the lobby spoke to us in English before we tried French, which was not a problem for us since our French is not great!!
Room Details:
We booked a superior king room for two nights, and it cost us €792 in total including the added €100 early check-in fee. Our room was very clean, and everything seemed to be well taken care of. There were a lot of fun design elements to the room; the wallpaper behind the bed had images of the city skyline and the Eiffel Tower, and the tile on the bathroom floor was in a fun wavy design. These little things made the room more fun and exciting for us!
We saw the top of the Eiffel Tower peaking over the skyline from our window! The window in the room opened slightly, but only about an inch, and there was no balcony. We did enjoy cracking the window open at night, listening to the sounds of the city, and getting a nice breeze.
Our room came with a reusable water bottle which we could use throughout our stay at the hotel's water stations! We liked to be able to go and get water whenever we needed it despite the time of day (or night) without having to ask or pay for individual bottles from the front desk.
There was a coffee and tea set up in the room as well. We enjoyed our morning coffee as we looked at our (slightly obscured) view of the Eiffel Tower as the sun came up each day! The room was well designed, clean, and met all our needs!
Property details:
The hotel has an on-site restaurant and offers room service. We did not dine in the restaurant but ordered room service on our first day at the hotel. We ordered a sandwich and a pizza. Both were not great. The pizza resembled a frozen pizza from the supermarket and was bland tasting. The food came to our room quickly, but for close to €60 it was not worth the price for the quality. We never went to the on-site restaurant to dine in since we believe that is where the food came from!
The property does have a concierge in the lobby, but on our short visit, we did not have the chance to use their services! We did however use the baggage service at the front desk. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff took our luggage and stored it for us until we could settle into our room. This luggage service is a lifesaver, especially when it saves you from lugging multiple suitcases around the city!
There is an executive lounge for those staying in qualifying room types, or those with high enough Hilton status. Since we were only in Paris for about 48 hours, we did not have the time to check it out, but would love to hear if anyone else has! Let us know below if you have tried out the executive lounge at this location, and if you liked it!
Check out:
We did not have a formal checkout since we left in the early morning! However, the standard check-out time posted online is noon for the Hilton Paris Opera Hotel. We left our keys in the room since we were unsure if anyone would be at the front desk and had no issues. We were emailed a receipt later in the day, and everything was correct!
Summary:
We spent two days in Paris at the Hilton Paris Opera Hotel and it cost us €792. We enjoyed the small details of our room like the fun wallpaper and our view from the window. The hotel is close to the opera house, but far away from many of the big tourist attractions in the city. This would be a great choice for anyone planning to visit the opera house and willing to walk to other attractions! The property is truly gorgeous and has a beautiful lobby and dining room. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is a little pricey to be so far away from some of the city's biggest sites and boasts a hefty early check-in fee, but if we were planning a visit to the opera you cannot beat the location.
