Cosmopolita Hotel Rome Review: Amenities, Location, & Room Insights

Updated: Nov 21, 2024

When planning our trip to Rome, we knew that location was everything! We wanted to be within walking distance of the city's biggest sites. We found the Cosmopolita Hotel Rome, Tapestry Collection by Hilton nestled between the Trevi Fountain and The Roman Forum, and at about $250 a night, it fit perfectly into our budget! In total for our four-night stay we paid 936.68 ($1007.73), and enjoyed a prime location in the heart of Rome, just a 10-minute walk to one of the wonders of the world, the Colosseum!

Getting To Cosmopolita Hotel Rome:

The Cosmopolitan Hotel Is about a 20-mile drive from the Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO). There are two common ways to get into the city from the airport, one is the Leonardo Express Train and the other is the taxi service/rideshare. Both methods take about the same amount of time at just 30 minutes

We opted to use a taxi service via Uber; it was quick and easy. We were picked up by our driver at the arrivals section of the airport. There is a designated taxi/ride-share pickup spot and we had no issues. We even got a $10 off coupon for booking a taxi through Uber! There are certain ride-share restrictions in Rome; Only Uber Black and affiliated taxi services are offered. Even with these restrictions, it was easy to find a ride!

The other option to take you into the city is the Leonardo Express Train which can be easily found by following the signs throughout the airport. Many signs in the airport directed to where the train station was, as well as places to buy tickets for the train. An average ticket costs about 19 per person for a direct ride to the Rome Termini Station. The train drops you off a little over a mile (2 kilometers) away from the Cosmopolita Hotel. An estimated 40-minute walk through the city.

Our determining factor when deciding which transportation method was price and how far we would have to drag our luggage through the city! With the Uber discount, it ended up being similarly priced (€40) and it got us closer to our destination. Our driver was able to drop us off right outside our hotel's entrance, so in our mind, it was worth it!

Check-In:

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly staff member right away. It was still early in the morning so we were hoping to drop off our bags, or try to get an early check-in. The standard check-in time for Cosmopolita Hotel Rome is 3:00 PM, however, she found us a room right away! She also gave us a map of the city and showed us where we were and how to get to some of the big attractions. She also showed us some of the best places in the city to eat. It was hospitable of her to spend the extra time to go over things with us and we found some great restaurants in the areas she recommended!

Room Details:

We booked a superior king room for four nights and paid USD 1007.73, which was about 936.68 (including a daily city tax of 15). The room was very standard, it had everything we needed but lacked any pizazz.

We were lucky to get the one room with a large half-circle window looking out onto the street where we could people-watch.

The space was well laid out, clean, and had the essentials. However, we did run into a slight problem with the room which made our stay slightly less comfortable.

On our first day, we took a midday nap only to wake up to all of the power in our room out. None of the lights would turn on, the landline phone would not work, and our phones had stopped charging. We spoke with the front desk and the staff was kind about the situation. By the time we made

it back to the room, the lights were back on.

We realized later on that we had overlooked an important part of the room! There is a key card slot next to the door and when you are in the room you are supposed to insert your room key into it to keep the power on. Unfortunately, ours did not work!!! The only way for us to keep the lights on was to open and close the door every few hours while we were in the room.

The hotel is also on a busy street next to some late-night bars/clubs. There were patrons out as late as 4:00 AM some nights. We are not light sleepers but if you are, you may have some issues with noise!

Extra Benefits:

Rome Italy: A selection of the food at the Cosmopolita Hotel Rome's breakfast buffet
Breakfast Buffet, Cosmopolita Hotel

We got a free buffet breakfast as Hilton Diamond Members for the entirety of our stay (the hotel is in Hilton's Tapestry Collection), and the food was surprisingly good! They had a wide variety of sweets, savories, and fruits and veggies. The breakfast is held on the hotel's rooftop garden which is an enclosed space that overlooks the city. The morning views from the buffet were amazing! They also had a coffee machine that made a variety of drink options! We tried other places for breakfast, but we could not beat the price, so we ate breakfast at the hotel most mornings!

Walking Distance:

We walked to every major site in Rome and Vatican City throughout our stay. The hotel is in a great location making everything easy to see by foot. The Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon are all under a kilometer away from the hotel!

It is a much longer walk to the Vatican City at about 50 minutes and 3.5km. However, the walk was enjoyable and we were able to sightsee as we made our way across Rome. We were able to walk by the Pantheon, Castel Sant'Angelo, The River Tiber, and some other interesting architectural feats!

We decided to walk to Trastevere to try some food that we had heard good things about! It is about a 30-minute walk (2km) from the hotel. The walk was enjoyable and we were able to sightsee as we went. We tried a few different places in Trastevere during our stay, we highly recommend Gusteria Al 17 Roma! Their lasagna was amazing, and worth the walk if you have some free time!

Check Out:

The checkout process was quick and easy. The check-out time for the Cosmopolita Hotel Rome is 11:00 AM. We had to swing by the front desk to sign a few papers hand in the keys, and get a final receipt. The process did not take more than a few minutes and then we were on our way to the airport!

Summary:

We spent four nights in Rome at the Cosmopolita Hotel Rome and it cost us $1007.73! We chose to stay at the Hotel based on the competitive pricing and central location of some of Rome's biggest landmarks! We got free breakfast every day as Hilton Honors Members, and the food was pretty good. We did have some technical issues with our room. The power would cut off despite our key card being in the wall slot, resulting in us having to open our door every few hours to get power back. Despite the technical issue, our room served its purpose and we slept well during our stay. Let us know below if you think a stay at the Cosmopolita Hotel Rome is worth your wallet! If you have stayed there before what was your experience like?
